About this project

THE PROBLEM

In 2022 the trust secured funding to open a state-of-the-art training academy for nurses, midwives and AHPs planned to open in 2023.  A major benefit of this project is a new revenue stream through the ability to be able to sale training content designed by the Nursing academy at King's to external individuals or parties.

A need for an LMS system with eCommerce capability has been identified to realise this benefit.

THE SOLUTION

As the trust already has a LMS in place managed by the Digital Learning Team, we have decided to employ this tool to avoid multiple LMSs and the associated work and complication this would cause.  So my Digital Learning Team have been commissioned to deliver this solution for them.

Development work required to support this will be the eCommerce plug-on and the initial set up of the Nurse Academy course catalogue onto the existing LMS.

THE RESULT

This is yet to be realised as the project is on-going but the expected outcomes are:

  • a new revenue stream via the sale of course content and course training seats

  • a fully automated eCommerce system with minimal administration input

  • more nurses trained at a more rapid pace

  • ultimately better patient care
